Continuous thermal rolls have no physical gap or notch for the printer to index against. Alignment holds for roughly 1 to 3 labels, then feed drift accumulates and the cut position will move out of line. For long production runs, switch to a die-cut label roll with a hardware gap sensor.

Thermal Roll vs. Die-Cut Label Guide
1. Continuous Rolls (Receipt / Non-Sensor)Portable printers like PT-210 lack optical label gap sensors. This generator renders the label plus white space (the gap) as a single unified raster height. Adjust Pitch Dots if cuts drift after printing several labels. Expect reliable alignment for roughly 1 to 3 labels, then switch to a die-cut roll for longer runs.
2. Die-Cut Labels (Sensor Hardware)Printers with transmissive gap sensors stop when the notch or gap is reached. This generator prints the label content and issues an ESC/POS
FF (Form Feed) command so the motor advances to the next label seam automatically.
